By bringing our family groups together, we ensure that the songs, dancing, talking circles, sweats, and histories of the Carmel Band of Rumsen Indians are preserved and practiced by generations to come.

Gathering Outings
Sovereignty is a physical relationship with the land. Our tribal outings bring members together to gather traditional resources like willow, sage, and abalone shells. These natural materials are vital for our ceremonial practices, traditional basket weaving, and making our sacred regalia. Each gathering trip is a renewal of our ancient responsibility to care for and respect our native ecosystems.

Cultural Education
We are dedicated to increasing cultural awareness by sharing who we are directly with the public. Through storytelling, traditional songs, and dances at surrounding schools and community events, we keep our heritage thriving. Our goal eventually is to create curriculum so we will not be thought of as extinct.
Domestic Violence Outreach
Our values teach us to protect and support those in times of vulnerability. Every holiday season, our community organizes donation drives to deliver gifts and essential goods to local domestic violence shelters. Standing in solidarity with women and families in transition is part of our deep commitment to communal care, healing, and mutual support.
