The Carmel Band of Rumsen Indians recently received a special invitation from the Diocese of Monterey to participate in the historic Installation Mass of Bishop Ramón Bejarano. This event took place at the Carmel Mission, a site deeply connected to the tribe’s heritage. Being part of this significant ceremony was a proud moment for the tribe and highlighted their ongoing involvement in the local community. In partnership with the San Dimas Canyon Nature Center, our youth council, tribal members, and local volunteers worked together to restore the land. Our efforts focused on planting Oak trees, which are a vital part of our local ecosystem. This hands-on restoration helps enhance our beautiful trails and habitats while giving back to the earth. These efforts ensure that these sacred trees return to the landscape for future generations to enjoy.
