Marissa Gonzalez
Youth Council Chairperson
I am the daughter of Emily Correa and the granddaughter of Arthur Rodriguez. I have been dancing since I was 7 years old, and some of my most cherished memories are traveling with my cousins to participate in ceremonies and learning from our elders. Through these experiences, I have gained a deep appreciation for our culture, traditions, and the importance of carrying them forward. I am incredibly grateful to be a Youth Council Advisor because I want to help ensure that our ceremonies, traditions, and teachings continue for generations to come. Our elders have taught us that we are the future, and I believe it is our responsibility to preserve and protect what has been passed down to us. I am also passionate about advocating for our youth and creating opportunities for them to feel heard, supported, and connected to their culture. I believe that providing a safe space where young people can gather, share ideas, learn, and grow together helps build confidence, leadership, and a stronger community. Most importantly, I want every young person to know that their voice matters and that they have an important role in shaping our future.

My name is Vallerie Morales, granddaughter of Gloria Castro. I've been singing in ceremonies since I was a little girl, always coming to ceremony with my Aunt Diane and Grandma Gloria. Their guidance, teachings, and example have played an important role in my life and continue to inspire me today. Being a Youth Advisor means being a role model, leader, and voice for our youth and community. It gives me the opportunity to help guide younger generations, share our culture and traditions, and make sure our youth feel supported and heard. As a Youth Advisor, I take pride in helping preserve our ways of life and passing on the teachings that have been shared with me by my elders, family, and community. means serving others, encouraging youth to stay connected to their culture, and creating opportunities for them to learn, grow, and succeed.

I am the daughter of Emily Correa and granddaughter of Arthur Rodriguez. I am a tribal singer and dancer. I started dancing at just 4 years old. From a very young age, our medicine and culture have been an important part of my life, giving me strength, and a deep connection to who I am. Growing up, I learned how important it is to carry our traditions forward and support the next generation. Becoming Youth Council Advisor has been one of the greatest honors my life. I am grateful for the opportunity to help guide and encourage our youth while continuing to learn and grow alongside them. Being part of such an amazing group of dedicated, like minded young people is both empowering and inspiring, and I am proud to help strengthen our community and culture for future generations.

I'm the granddaughter of Aurora Valles Corona and the niece of Dolly Corona. Serving as a Youth Council Advisor and Treasurer is both an honor and a responsibility that I take to heart. As an advisor, I am passionate about supporting and encouraging our youth, helping them develop leadership skills, confidence, and a strong connection to our community and culture. As treasurer, I am committed to ensuring that our resources are managed responsibly and transparently so we can continue creating meaningful opportunities and experiences for our youth. Being able to guide, mentor, and invest in the next generation is incredibly rewarding, and I am proud to play a role in helping our young people grow into future leaders.
Diego De La Vega

I've been singing and dancing with the tribe since I was very young. My grandmother is Gloria Castro, and always being glued to her side has taught me many lessons and shown me how to be an example not only for the people next to me but also for those looking up to me. In my opinion, being a youth advisor means being a voice and advocate for youth, always someone they can look up to and come to in any situation. To help teach the youth not only to carry on traditions passed down from generation to generation, but also to live life in the best and most prepared way possible. My goal is to always make sure the people have a place in ceremonies and within the tribe. We are their homes and families.

I am the son of Aurora Corona and 5th Gen grandchild of Guadalupe Rodriguez. I serve as a Tribal Council member for the Carmel Band of Rumsen Indians and on the Board of Directors for the Confederation of Ohlone Peoples. With over 20 years of experience in traditional medicines and ceremonial practices, I also serve as a youth advisor, sharing the cultural knowledge and teachings passed down to me. Being a youth advisor means helping guide and support the next generation while encouraging them to stay connected to their culture, traditions, and community. It is an honor to share the teachings I have received and help our youth build pride in who they are. I also help coordinate youth outings and cultural dances, creating opportunities for learning, connection, and community involvement. My work is guided by a strong spiritual connection

I've had the honor of being involved with this tribe thanks to my partner, Diego De La Vega. You may recognize me from the kitchen crew or from lending a helping hand wherever it's needed. I'm the kind of person who naturally jumps in to support others and help get the job done. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve on this council and contribute to the growth and development of our youth. My goal is to help them become strong leaders who can speak confidently about their culture and heritage. I'm excited for this next chapter with the tribe and for the opportunity to be someone the youth can look up to. I look forward to supporting and encouraging them as they grow into the best versions of themselves.

I am the daughter of Tina Alamillo, and granddaughter of Arthur Rodriguez. I have been a dancer in my tribe for as long as I can remember. Growing up as an Indigenous woman in a beautiful culture helped shape me into the person I am today and the person I want to become. I am privileged to be part of my tribe's ceremonies, trips to my people's land, and, most importantly, to learn the traditions my people fought to live by today. Becoming a youth council advisor has impacted me in ways I will forever be grateful for; it has given me opportunities to help guide and support our youth as they become the next generation. There is a saying we use for our youth: 'Preserving Heritage, Shaping Futures.' I believe my fellow advisors and I will continue to advocate for our youth and help strengthen the future of our culture.

I am the son of Chantal Monsibais. I have been to many ceremonies and began lancing 3 years ago. The ceremony has really given me a spiritual awakening and hope in my faith for a better future. I have recently become a youth advisor, and I am honored to be able to impact the youth's lives and be the leader I wish I had when I was younger, teaching the youth to be better than the generation before them. I am the daughter of Amber Gutierrez. My great-grandmother is Aurora Corona, and my grandma is Anna Marie Gutierrez. I recently started coming around the tribe around a year ago. I didn't know how much of an impact the tribe and my culture would have on my life in the best way possible. The guidance of Guillermo Morales and Valerie Morales, as well as my mom's and Auntie Diane's, has brought me to where I am today. I have accomplished many things, such as MBCANN as well as speaking up when I feel is needed, and being a youth advisor. Being a youth advisor comes with many responsibilities that I am ready to take on, such as speaking up for our youth and teaching them traditions as they get passed on by our elders. As well as understanding and communicating with them, I am very honored to be where I am now.

I am the daughter and granddaughter of April Gutierrez and Annamarie Gutierrez. When I was little, my Nana would tell me about dancing with the tribe, and after she passed, my mom continued to share those stories with me. When Germo invited me to a powwow ceremony, I was hesitant, but I am so glad I went because that day made me want to become more involved. Being with the Youth Advisors has brought a lot out in me and helped me get through things. I love being a Youth Advisor because I enjoy being with the kids and seeing them do so many things together. My favorite experience was going to the Ronald McDonald House because we helped create so many smiles.

As an Elder Liaison, my dedication is to guiding the next generation and opening doors to opportunities we only dreamed of as children. My focus is on strengthening our children, showing them they have a voice, and helping them stay on a ceremonial path.

I am the mother of Marissa Gonzalez, Celine, and Natalie Correa. I am the daughter of Arthur Rodriguez, Granddaughter of Frank Rodriguez, and Great-granddaughter of Henrique Rodriguez. I have been an active member of the tribe for over 25 years. I have served on the tribal council for over 15 years. I am honored to serve as the Elder Liaison; I am committed to strengthening the bridge between our elders and our next generation of leaders. I look forward to supporting the Youth Council as it grows, helping our young people build on our history, goals, and traditions that define our tribal community.
